BIRDWATCHING AND BIRD CONSERVATION SURVEY

Within the BirdEcon project, we are interested in what people think about bird conservation. We want to know, which bird conservation narratives resonate best with different groups of people, including those who watch birds and who do not. Two versions of the survey take place simultaneously, one targeted at the general public and the other at birdwatchers. These surveys are carried out in the UK, Poland, and Italy. However, if you are a birdwatcher from a different country, we are happy to hear from you, too!

The link below leads to the version for birdwatchers. The general public is surveyed by an external company.

The survey is fully anonymous, and the information is collected for research purposes. The survey does not collect any personally identifiable and sensitive information about you and your birdwatching practice. Although it asks for reflection, we do not expect this could cause stress or discomfort. Indeed, the self-reflection about your own birdwatching experience can hopefully be interesting.

The anonymous data will be kept indefinitely and may be published. All academic articles resulting from the BirdEcon project will be open access, and they will be linked in the Resources section of this website. Should you be interested in seeing your opinions as part of the broader picture of what birdwatchers and the general public think about bird conservation, please check this section again in 2026.

If you are consider yourself a birdwatcher and are happy to participate in the study, please follow this link or the above QR code.

Whatever you decide we thank you for considering taking part.
